Cool and Safe Clothing

Although there is no concrete evidence to suggest that you can be infected through your clothing, scientists have run tests that show that a virus can survive on non-porous surfaces for up to 24 hours.

Textiles used to make the clothing that we wear in our everyday lives are made from porous fabrics which could have a higher chance of harbouring a virus than materials such as steel and plastic.

A statement made by Dr Weatherhead, assistant professor of paediatrics specialising in tropical medicine and infectious diseases at Baylor College of Medicine, said that “it is possible for you to contract a virus through your clothing if your hand, face, eyes or mouth touches the piece of clothing that has been contaminated by the virus”.

If you take into consideration the above statement, it would be wise to avoid fabrics with a high polyester content. Wash your clothing regularly and avoid using your sleeves when opening doors or touching public surfaces. By doing so, you will reduce the chances of becoming contaminated through your clothing.

An obvious choice for a protective item of clothing has to be the mask. If appropriately used, a mask can protect you and the public. So why not make it fashionable as well?

By buying a reusable mask, you will not only be helping yourself but also the environment. Washable marks are easy to use and effective. Many places now require you to wear a mask, so you might as well invest in a few so that you can rotate them according to your outfit of the day.

There are, however, a few items of clothing that you will find help reduce the risk of being infected when interacting with the outside world but will still keep you looking cool and stylish.
