Trendy Trainers

Do you remember when trainers were for sport and nothing else? Those days are well and truly gone. Trainers, or sneakers as they say in the US, are here to stay.

Let’s take a look at what’s hot and what’s not in the highly competitive trainer market. From sustainable style to fast fashion this look is not going anywhere; so make sure you have at least one pair from this list in your wardrobe.

We are starting with the latest fresh offering from TopShop.

Camber White Chunky Trainers (£39.00)

Topshop Camber White trainer with a grey or pale blue stripe has both the style and the practicality that is required. Team this with a summer dress, and you’re good to go. These are chunky sole trainers without being ridiculous; just the right amount of cool and edge, and Topshop is cutting prices right now. So these are a winner.

Candy White Lace Up Trainers (£29.00)

Another winner from Topshop is these Candy White Lace-up trainers. These are white and plain, but that’s what makes these trainers so good. Go with anything, go anywhere, and remain fresh and straight from the box. Effortless style right there with these casual-cool lace-up trainers. Perfect for the everyday.

New Balance Black & Silver 373 V2 trainers (£65.00)

Have you ever heard of a shoe store called Schuh? Nope, me neither. But I needed some cool trainers fast, and a friend suggested this store – then we went into lockdown, and it was going to be a while before we could visit in person. We are introducing this shoe store that has everything, but, more importantly, these fabulous New Balance 373-v2 trainers. Hello! All the style and comfort in one trainer.

I have a confession – this is my third pair. I walked the hell out of these trainers during my years abroad, and so I can reliably say they are perfect. And Schuh was right there to help me get another pair. Perfect.

Vans Black & White Old Skool Trainers (£60.00)

No wardrobe is complete without a pair of Vans, but it’s the Vans-old-skool black and white that got my interest. These were everywhere last summer: in blue, in red, but not black and white. So now we have the black and white version of this classic sneaker. We can’t pretend it doesn’t exist, so make space and get on the waiting list.

Nike Pale Pink Air Max Excee Trainers (£95.00)

Calvin Klein White Jeans Maya Trainers (£130.00)

Schuh has rare trainers that you might not find elsewhere: gorgeous pink Nike Air Max Exceed, totally stunning; and Calvin Klein Jeans Maya trainers in black or white is a winner, well made, reliable and stylish. What more do you need?

Team these up with a Lulu Guinness Miranda basket bag. This bag is both cute and hilarious at the same time, and when you’re done, it will look great on your mantelpiece – multipurpose living right there!

If you take the link between celebrities and fashion trainers, no article would be complete without the famous Kanye’s Yeezys whether your choice is the Boost 350 or 500, gone are the days when you sat up all night just to buy now when they dropped. So with no queuing and a new drop about to happen to get your Yeezy on has never been easier.

Gucci Women’s Ace Embroidered Sneaker (£470.00)

While we’re at, it no must-have list would be complete without a Gucci trainer, while not a trainer more statement footwear. Look at the Ace embroidered sneaker, worn by all the cool kids, Alexa Chung and Kourtney Kardashian just to name a few.

If you want a fashion trainer to wear during the day but also doubles up for the gym, then the only place to shop is Nike. Nike has been a style leader for decades, selling every style of the trainer you could ever want. Take a look at the Nike Air Huarache, perfect styling and multipurpose.

Nike Air Max 97 QS is a seriously good looking trainer, followed closely by the Nike Air Jordan Mid hello famous and best-selling shoe ever! There little doubt that Nike has great designers in their armoury and fantastic marketing, but the fact is the trainers are as good as they say they are so why not?

Balenciaga Fashion Women Black Polyamide Hi Top (£734.00)

Balenciaga Fashion Women Fushisa Leather (£842.00)

We can’t talk about trainers unless we talk about the catwalk: these classic Balenciaga Fashion Black Polyamide Hi-Top Sneakers. These trainers were all over London Fashion week in the Spring, and you can also thank Balenciaga for the chunky oversized style. Balenciaga Fashion Woman Fuchsia Leather Sneakers are the original style statement and the best.

So, we’ve done a full circle back to the chunky trainer, and covered the hotlist. But let’s finish up by looking at the not so hot. Remember friends this ugly lot might be your thing, and it wouldn’t do if we were all the same. But can anyone like the Christopher Kane Coil Sandal/Trainer from pin interest – luckily you can’t buy these: they’re catwalk only.

Suppose you’re determined to wear ugly, what about the Nike Sock Dart? Truly hideous. Team it with some khaki shorts, and it’s Dora The Explorer without the Spanish subtitles, and not in a good way. You have been warned!
